Totally committed to pet food

Stroetmann has had a passion for exceptional, high-quality food since its earliest days. Back in 1791, the company opened a store specialising in colonial goods in Münster, Germany, under the name Holtmann. Building a business on products from far-flung parts of the world was a bold and visionary move at that time. Those two attributes continue to define Stroetmann today.

When the company was renamed in 1831 – after the daughter of its founder married merchant Ludwig Stroetmann – a second important pillar was added: trading in agricultural seeds. This eventually paved the way for entering the pet food market.

In 1968, the sale of high-quality pet food was added to the other four parts of the business: food, seeds, coffee and fertilisers. This decision filled a real market need, leading to rapid progress in the subsequent years. In 1975, Stroetmann launched its own elles®and PRIMOX®brands. Two pet food wholesalers were acquired in 1999 and 2000, respectively. In 2010, the pet food division then established itself as a wholesale system provider for DIY stores.

This sustained success led to the division being spun off in 2021 to form Stroetmann Tiernahrung GmbH & Co. KG. Today, Stroetmann Tiernahrung have a powerful array of infrastructure. This includes a production facility in Münster-Amelsbüren constructed in 2012, a wholesale warehouse in Münster completed in 2019 and a logistics set-up that combines a fleet with flexible, efficient freight forwarding partners.

As you can see, we are totally committed to pet food.
